Finding Personal Freedom
I spent years trying to have a sense of freedom by trying to be more agreeable. I thought I was playing it safe. I was scared of the consequences of being authentic & speaking my truth.
Sometimes bits and pieces would slip out & I’d be put back in my place.
Imagine my shock when I started to realise that true freedom, really liberating myself, meant taking the biggest risk.
Now, years on, all of my clients want the same thing. They want to feel a sense of freedom - liberated enough to take off their mask and be themselves, to stop towing the party line.
As clarity emerges for them I'm often asked "How am I ever going to do this?". And I'm starting to see the patterns clearly enough that I could actually answer that question.
It starts with admitting to what is making you feel captive.
It's followed by more awareness of this part of your life, which gets harder to ignore once you’ve said it out loud.
And the final step is sheer discomfort. Being SO uncomfortably aware of your situation that eventually it becomes more painful to stay in it than it does to do the unthinkable. To grit your teeth & begin the upheaval of fundamentally changing that part of your life.
No one ever said taking control of your life was easy.
Feeling free is on the other side of discomfort, and the journey is not for the faint hearted. What does freedom mean to you?
